Mec-Gar has manufactured magazines under contract for major firearm producers and military customers since 1965, and this 2011-pattern magazine is built to the same standard as those OEM parts. It is a practical choice for shooters running a 2011, 2311, Springfield Prodigy, Kimber 2K11, or any compatible clone-pattern pistol who want a factory-grade spare without paying a premium for a branded box.

The tube is formed from heat-treated carbon steel, which resists deformation under the repeated compression cycles that come with regular use. An anti-friction coating on the tube’s interior reduces the drag the follower experiences on its way up, which matters most during the last few rounds when spring tension is lowest and feed reliability is most at risk. The follower itself is high-impact polymer, chosen because it maintains consistent geometry without adding the weight that could slow the ascent under light spring pressure. The spring is high-tensile music wire — a material selected for its ability to maintain set over a long service life rather than relaxing and losing tension after extended storage loaded.

The polymer floorplate keeps weight low and simplifies replacement if it is damaged on a hard surface drop. At 126mm, the body length fits flush in full-size 2011 frames without a basepad extension. Mec-Gar produces this magazine in Italy using the same tooling and materials that supply their OEM contracts, so the dimensional tolerances and feed geometry are consistent with what those platforms were designed around.

Note that STI and Staccato made internal changes to their 2011 pistols in 2024; Mec-Gar confirms this magazine is not compatible with pistols produced after those changes.
