Description

Mec-Gar has been manufacturing magazines for major firearms producers and military contracts since 1965, and this 10-round 9mm magazine reflects that production background. It is built for 2011 and 2311 platform pistols — including the Springfield Prodigy, Kimber 2K11, and Girsan 2311 — making it a practical option for owners of those pistols who need a reliable feed source without reaching for the factory offering.

The tube is heat-treated carbon steel, which allows the body to handle the stress of repeated loading and chamber cycling without deforming over time. The follower is a high-impact polymer piece, which resists cracking under the spring tension that builds when a magazine sits loaded. The spring itself is high-tensile music wire, chosen for its ability to maintain consistent upward pressure across the full stack rather than softening after extended compression.

The Anti-Friction coating on the body serves a functional purpose: it reduces resistance as rounds strip from the feed lips and as the magazine seats and releases from the magwell. Polymer floor plates keep weight down at the base. All Mec-Gar magazines are manufactured in Italy.

One important compatibility note from the manufacturer: STI and Staccato made changes to their 2011 pistols in 2024, and this magazine is not designed for pistols produced after those changes were implemented. If your pistol predates those revisions, or is from one of the other compatible 2011-pattern manufacturers, fit and function should be straightforward.
