The body is constructed from carbon steel, which provides the rigidity needed to stack and feed reliably under the spring pressure a 30-round column demands.

Two engineering features define this magazine beyond its capacity. The Anti-Friction Coating — Mec-Gar’s AFC finish — reduces the surface friction between the follower and the magazine body, which eases the effort required when thumb-loading and helps prevent the follower from binding during feeding under stress. The same coating provides meaningful corrosion resistance, which matters for a magazine that sees regular handling, pocket carry, or humid storage conditions.

The Drop Protection System floorplate addresses a real failure mode: when a loaded steel magazine is dropped on a hard surface, the impact can crack or deform a standard baseplate and compromise the feed spring retention below it. The DPS floorplate absorbs and distributes that shock.
