Description
Mec-Gar has supplied magazines to firearm manufacturers and military organizations since 1965, and this 13-round 9mm magazine for the Browning Hi-Power and Springfield SA-35 is built to that same production standard. The tube is formed from heat-treated carbon steel, which gives the body the rigidity needed to maintain consistent feed-lip geometry over a long service life — a detail that matters most with hollow-point ammunition, where even slight deformation of the lips can cause nose-diving on feed. The spring is wound from high-tensile music wire, a material chosen for its ability to hold set resistance through thousands of loading cycles without taking a permanent compression set. That consistency keeps the follower pushing rounds into the feed path at the same angle whether the magazine is fully loaded or down to the last few rounds.
The high-impact polymer follower reduces friction against the tube walls compared to a steel follower, which helps the spring move it freely and lowers the force required to rack the first round from a full magazine. The metal floorplate is flush-fit to the pistol frame rather than extended, so it does not change the grip profile or interfere with a consistent draw. This is a straight replacement for the original-capacity magazine in either the classic Browning Hi-Power or the Springfield SA-35, with no modification required to the pistol. The blued finish on the steel tube is the same coating designation Mec-Gar uses across their standard production line. Made in Italy.
