Description
Mec-Gar has served as the original equipment magazine supplier to major firearm manufacturers and militaries since 1965, and this Browning Hi-Power and Springfield SA-35 magazine is built to the same standard as those OEM contracts. If you run either pistol as a carry gun or a range staple, this is the magazine that was engineered specifically for the platform rather than adapted to fit it.
The tube is formed from heat-treated carbon steel, which maintains its geometry under the sustained compression of a fully loaded stack and resists the kind of distortion that causes feeding failures. The spring is wound from high-tensile music wire, chosen for consistent follower pressure across the full range of travel from the first round to the last. The follower itself is a high-impact polymer piece, light enough not to fight the spring on the way up and durable enough to take repeated loading cycles without deforming at the lips.
The nickel finish on this variant serves two practical purposes: it reduces friction against the feedway and provides a degree of corrosion resistance that bare carbon steel alone does not. The metal floorplate sits flush with the grip frame, which matters if you carry the pistol, since a protruding basepad changes the draw stroke and can snag on clothing. The 15-round capacity adds two rounds over the standard factory Browning Hi-Power magazine count while preserving that flush fit — you are not trading a clean profile for the extra capacity.
Compatibility extends beyond the two most common platforms. This magazine also fits the Tisas Regent BR9, the Girsan MC P35, the Inglis Hi-Power, the Century Arms Centurion 14 Hi-Power, and several other Hi-Power pattern pistols.
