Description
Mec-Gar has been manufacturing magazines for major firearm makers and military contracts since 1965, and this 1911 full-size 10mm magazine reflects that same production standard. It is a straightforward choice for shooters who run a Government-size 1911 in 10mm and want a replacement or spare that mirrors original equipment quality — the Magnum Research Desert Eagle 1911 ships with this same magazine from the factory.
The tube is heat-treated carbon steel, which resists the deformation that can cause feeding failures over time, particularly under the heavier spring tension that 10mm demands compared to .45 ACP. The spring itself is high-tensile music wire, chosen for its consistent compression cycle rather than the softer wire used in economy magazines that can take a set after extended storage under load. The follower is heat-treated stamped steel, and the baseplate is metal welded in place rather than retained by a removable pin — that construction eliminates a common failure point but means the magazine is not user-disassembled from the bottom.
The blued finish on this variant matches the SKU MGCGOV10B. For shooters who prefer a corrosion-resistant interior, Mec-Gar also offers this same magazine in nickel under a separate SKU. All Mec-Gar magazines are manufactured in Italy, where the company operates the tooling and quality controls it developed supplying OEM magazines at scale.
