The Mec-Gar Competition 1911 Full Size magazine is built for shooters who run their 1911 hard — in competition, in training, or simply as a carry spare where reliability is non-negotiable. The tube is heat-treated carbon steel finished in Mec-Gar’s Anti-Friction coating, a treatment that does three things simultaneously: it reduces friction during loading and ejection, resists corrosion, and lowers the chance of a feed-related malfunction by letting rounds move cleanly through the magazine’s feed path. The high-impact polymer follower incorporates a metal insert that reliably engages the slide stop after the last round is fired — a small detail that matters when the clock is running. The spring is high-tensile music wire, which maintains consistent feed pressure across a full load and over repeated cycling.

The floorplate is designed with competition shooting specifically in mind. Its geometry fits within standard competition boxes, and it installs from the rear of the magazine body rather than the bottom, which prevents it from releasing when the magazine is dropped free. The base also features small dimples that can be filled with paint or marker to color-code magazines for quick identification during a stage.
