Description

Mec-Gar has manufactured magazines for major firearm producers and military contracts since 1965, and this Glock 17 magazine reflects that production background. The tube is drawn from heat-treated carbon steel, which gives the body the rigidity needed to maintain consistent stack geometry under repeated loading and feed cycles. An anti-friction coating on the exterior reduces drag against the frame’s magazine well, helping the magazine seat and drop free cleanly rather than binding during fast exchanges.

The spring is wound from high-tensile music wire, a material chosen for its ability to maintain consistent tension across thousands of compression cycles without taking a permanent set. The follower is molded from high-impact polymer in a high-visibility green, making chamber checks and inventory of loaded magazines faster in low-light conditions. The polymer floorplate adds meaningful drop resistance at the base — relevant when magazines are ejected onto hard surfaces during drills.

The design fits flush with the Glock 17 frame while holding 18 rounds, one more than the standard factory magazine. That extra round comes without any extension below the grip, so the handling profile of the pistol stays unchanged. The magazine catch interface is standard Glock geometry, so the factory release button works without modification. Note that Mec-Gar specifies this magazine is not compatible with the Glock 19X or funneled magazine guides, and standard Glock aftermarket floorplates will not interchange with this one.
