Description
Mec-Gar built its reputation by manufacturing original-equipment magazines for major pistol makers, including Walther itself — which means this replacement magazine for the PPK/S is produced by the same company that supplies the factory. That lineage matters most to shooters who want a spare or carry backup that behaves identically to what came in the box.
The tube is drawn from certified carbon steel and TIG welded without seams, then heat treated to resist the deformation that repeated loading cycles and carry stress can cause over time. A seamless construction matters here because interior weld beads are a common source of feeding hesitation; a smooth internal surface lets rounds strip off the follower cleanly and chamber without interruption. The spring is wound from high-tensile music wire, which maintains consistent upward pressure across the full capacity range rather than relaxing progressively as the magazine empties. The follower is heat-treated stamped steel, and the floorplate is a polymer finger rest — extending grip purchase slightly at the base of the pistol, which is a practical benefit on a compact pistol where getting a full firing grip can be difficult.
One fitment detail worth noting: this magazine has a ridge running down one side of the tube. If your existing PPK/S magazine does not have that ridge, this one will not seat correctly in your pistol — check your current magazine before ordering. It does not fit the FEG APK Mark II. The blued finish matches the traditional exterior of the PPK/S and provides a baseline level of corrosion resistance suitable for range and carry use with normal maintenance.
