Mec-Gar makes magazines as original equipment for many of the largest firearm manufacturers in the world, and this Springfield Hellcat magazine is built to the same standard as those OEM contracts. That matters because a replacement magazine is only as useful as its ability to feed reliably under pressure—and the construction here is designed with that in mind from the ground up.

The tube is formed from heat-treated carbon steel, which keeps the walls dimensionally stable under repeated compression from the spring. That spring is high-tensile music wire, chosen for consistent force across the full range of compression rather than just at full or empty. The follower is a high-visibility green, high-impact polymer piece—the color makes it easy to confirm the magazine is empty at a glance during a press check or chamber inspection. The floorplate extends slightly and incorporates an integrated pinky rest, giving smaller-handed shooters a full firing grip and giving everyone a more positive purchase during a speed reload.

The entire magazine receives an Anti-Friction coating rather than a standard blued or phosphate finish. That coating reduces drag as rounds feed from the magazine into the chamber, which is particularly relevant in a compact pistol like the Hellcat where the feed angle geometry leaves less margin for friction-induced hesitation.

At 14 rounds, this magazine gives you one additional round over the Springfield factory extended magazine—a meaningful difference when the gun is serving as a carry or defensive pistol.
