Description
Mec-Gar has supplied magazines to firearm manufacturers and military contracts since 1965, and this replacement magazine for the Smith & Wesson 5900 Series, 915, 910, and 659 pistols is built to the same standard as those OEM runs. If your S&W is seeing regular range use or duty carry, having a reliable spare that feeds consistently matters more than any other accessory you could add to the pistol.
The tube is heat-treated carbon steel with a blued finish — the same Blued designation Mec-Gar uses across its line — which gives the body the structural rigidity to resist deformation under repeated loading and the impact stress of magazine drops. The dimpled design of the tube accepts standard Mec-Gar floorplates, springs, and followers, so if you ever want to swap components or upgrade to a different floorplate style, the parts interchange without modification.
The spring is high-tensile music wire, which maintains its load characteristics over repeated compression cycles better than softer spring alloys. A spring that takes a set early will cause feed failures well before the magazine body shows any wear. The high-impact polymer follower guides each round at the correct angle into the chamber, and the flush-fitting polymer floorplate keeps the overall profile consistent with the pistol’s grip geometry so no material snags on a draw. Everything is manufactured in Italy to tight dimensional tolerances so the magazine drops free cleanly and seats positively without slop.
