Mec-Gar has manufactured magazines for major firearms producers and military contracts since 1965, and this PT92/PT99 magazine reflects that production background. It is a straightforward replacement or backup magazine for Taurus PT92 and PT99 owners who want a unit built to the same standards as the original equipment.

The tube is formed from heat-treated carbon steel and uses a dimpled design, which means it accepts standard Mec-Gar floorplates, springs, and followers — useful if you already have Mec-Gar components on hand or want to standardize across your collection. The spring is wound from high-tensile music wire, chosen for its resistance to set over time compared to softer spring materials. Both the follower and the floorplate are high-impact polymer; the floorplate sits flush with the pistol’s grip rather than extending below it, which keeps the overall profile clean and avoids snagging during a reload. The Blued finish on the steel tube provides a degree of corrosion resistance suited to regular handling and range use.

One practical note: the bottom of the magazine is not cut out, so it will not fit older PT92 or PT99 pistols configured with a button-heel magazine release. If your pistol uses that older release system, verify your model’s compatibility before ordering. For standard side-button release variants, this magazine drops free and seats normally.
