Description

Mec-Gar manufactures original equipment magazines for many of the world’s major firearm producers, and this 20-round magazine for the Taurus PT92 and PT99 is built to that same standard. If your PT92 sees duty in competition or as a defensive sidearm, the higher capacity means fewer reloads without requiring any modification to the pistol itself.

The tube is made from heat-treated carbon steel, and the exterior carries Mec-Gar’s Anti-Friction coating — a surface treatment that serves three purposes at once: it lets rounds strip smoothly off the stack during feeding, it reduces the friction that can cause a round to hang up under the spring pressure of a fully loaded magazine, and it provides corrosion resistance without adding meaningful thickness to the tube walls. The follower is high-impact polymer, and the spring is high-tensile music wire, both chosen to maintain consistent feed geometry across the full range of rounds.

The floorplate is the other meaningful design detail here. It uses Mec-Gar’s Drop Protection System, a polymer construction that absorbs impact energy when the magazine hits a hard surface — whether that happens during a speed reload in competition or an unplanned drop. The floorplate profile is also shaped to fit within standard competition boxes, which matters if you shoot USPSA or similar formats where basepad dimensions are regulated. One compatibility note worth knowing: this magazine does not work with funneled magazine guides. All internal components are interlinked, a construction choice that maintains structural integrity under the stresses of repeated use.
