Description
Mec-Gar manufactures this magazine for the Taurus PT92 and PT99 as an upgrade over the standard factory unit, adding three rounds of capacity while still sitting flush with the grip. That flush fit matters practically: you keep the same draw, the same holster compatibility, and the same handling profile without any extension hanging below the frame.
The tube is heat-treated carbon steel, which resists the deformation that repeated loading and compression cycles can inflict on softer materials over time. Mec-Gar treats the exterior with their Anti-Friction coating, which serves two purposes simultaneously — it reduces the sliding resistance as rounds feed from the magazine into the chamber, and it provides a barrier against corrosion that bare steel would not offer on its own. The result is a magazine that is easier to load by hand and less likely to cause feed hesitations caused by drag between the round and the feed lips.
The follower is high-impact polymer, which is less prone to binding against the inside of the tube than metal followers can be under spring pressure. The spring itself is high-tensile music wire, chosen for its ability to maintain consistent tension across the full range of compression — from a fully loaded 18-round stack down to the last cartridge. The polymer floorplate is designed to sit flush with the bottom of the grip, matching the stock magazine profile exactly.
Mec-Gar has supplied magazines to major firearm manufacturers and military organizations as an OEM producer since 1965, and this magazine is made in Italy to the same production standards as those contracts.
