Description
The 940 Pro Snow Goose is built specifically for high-volume snow goose conservation hunts, where a shooter may cycle hundreds of rounds in a single outing and needs a platform that stays clean and reliable well into the day. Mossberg’s self-regulating gas system is designed to run up to 1,500 rounds between cleanings, which matters considerably on a field hunt where a cleaning kit is not close at hand. Nickel boron coating on the gas piston, rings, hammer, sear, and shell stop reduces friction and resists corrosion from the wet, cold conditions that define late-season snow goose shooting.
The receiver is optics-cut from the factory, so adding a red dot or low-power optic for passing shots at altitude requires no additional machining or adapter plates. When iron sights are preferred, the HIVIZ TriComp fiber optic front sight pulls in available light effectively in the flat gray skies typical of early spring goose country. The 12+1 capacity pairs with the 28-inch barrel to give the shooter both reach and enough rounds to work a spread without reloading during an active pass.
The TrueTimber Viper Snow camo on the synthetic stock and forend is purpose-matched to the bright, snow-covered fields where this hunting is done. The stock is adjustable for length of pull with included shims, accommodating different builds and layering configurations. An enlarged loading port and elongated elevator make topping off under a coat and gloves noticeably less fumbling. The tang safety keeps the control within thumb reach without shifting grip, a practical detail when a shooter is wearing thick gloves and tracking a moving target.
