Mossberg’s self-regulating gas system is designed to run up to 1,500 rounds between cleanings, which matters considerably on a field hunt where a cleaning kit is not close at hand. Nickel boron coating on the gas piston, rings, hammer, sear, and shell stop reduces friction and resists corrosion from the wet, cold conditions that define late-season snow goose shooting.

The receiver is optics-cut from the factory, so adding a red dot or low-power optic for passing shots at altitude requires no additional machining or adapter plates.
