The .22-250 Remington chambering is one of the faster factory cartridges in the varmint class, and the 1-in-14 twist rate is matched to it deliberately. That relatively slow rate stabilizes the lighter, shorter projectiles the cartridge was designed around — typically 40 to 55 grain bullets — without over-spinning them. Handloaders pushing heavier 60 to 75 grain bullets for longer-range work should verify their chosen projectile stabilizes at that rate before committing to a load.
