The 6.5 PRC cartridge runs at higher pressure and velocity than the 6.5 Creedmoor, which means it carries energy further downrange — useful for larger ungulates at extended distances, but it also calls for a longer barrel to allow that powder charge to burn efficiently before the bullet exits. The 24-inch fluted barrel serves that purpose directly, giving the propellant the dwell time it needs while the fluting removes material to keep the carry weight manageable.

The spiral-fluted bolt reduces surface contact during the cycling stroke, which makes the action feel smoother under field conditions and helps shed debris that would otherwise slow the bolt down. Mossberg’s LBA trigger is user-adjustable across a meaningful range, which matters because the right pull weight for a hunting rifle sitting in a tree stand is different from what a bench shooter prefers — you can set it once and leave it, or adjust it as your use case changes.

The barrel is threaded at 5/8″-24 TPI, allowing you to mount a muzzle device without any gunsmithing work.
