The Patriot Predator is Mossberg’s bolt-action built around serious varmint and predator hunting, where shots can come at distance, in rough weather, and without a bench to rest on. It suits a hunter who wants a purpose-built working rifle rather than a general-purpose sporter dressed up with camo.

The .243 Winchester caliber is the core of what this rifle is designed around. It sits at a useful crossover point: flat enough for long-range work on coyotes and prairie dogs, yet carrying enough energy for deer-sized game in most hunting situations. The 1-in-10 twist rate is matched to that purpose — it stabilizes the heavier .243 projectiles, roughly 95 to 105 grains, that give you the retained energy and reduced wind drift that predator and light deer hunting demand. Lighter varmint bullets in the 55–70 grain range will still shoot, but the twist is optimized for the heavier end of the .243 spectrum.

The barrel carries a Patriot Brown Cerakote finish, which does real work beyond appearance — Cerakote is a polymer-ceramic coating that resists corrosion and abrasion better than blued or parkerized steel, an honest advantage when you’re hunting wet timber or open plains. The muzzle is threaded at 1/2″-28 tpi, the standard pitch for .243-diameter suppressors and muzzle brakes. The TrueTimber Strata camo stock pattern is designed around a mixed woodland environment, breaking up the rifle’s outline in the kind of terrain where predator hunters spend most of their time. The two-position safety is straightforward and deliberate — on or off, with no intermediate setting to second-guess in the field.
