Description
The 940 Pro Waterfowl in Realtree Legacy is Mossberg’s purpose-built semi-automatic for hunters who spend serious time in wet, punishing conditions. It is aimed at the waterfowler who wants a gun that keeps working after a morning in the marsh rather than one that needs babying between hunts.
The gas-venting system is designed to run cleanly across a wide range of loads, which matters when you are cycling through different steel shot sizes across a long day. Internal corrosion resistance goes beyond a surface treatment: the gas piston, magazine tube, hammer, and sear all carry a boron-nitride coating, and the chamber and bore are chrome-lined. The return spring is stainless steel and the return spring tube is coated separately, so the components most exposed to moisture and fouling are each addressed individually rather than relying on a single finish to cover everything.
The receiver is cut with a patent-pending Shield RMSc footprint, allowing a compatible micro dot to mount directly without a riser or adapter plate. Adapter plates for RMR, Docter, and Leupold footprints are included, so the optic-ready platform accommodates several common sight standards without additional purchases. The HIVIZ CompSight fiber optic front sight is installed from the factory for hunters who prefer iron glass. Stock fit is adjustable for both length of pull and drop at comb, which lets the shooter dial in head position for consistent cheek weld rather than adapting to a fixed stock geometry. A self-draining stock prevents water from accumulating inside and affecting handling or balance in the field.
