The RICO 2 H75R is a thermal weapon sight built for hunters and precision shooters who need reliable target acquisition in complete darkness or through obscuring conditions. It runs on a 640×512 sensor core — a resolution that delivers enough pixel density at 75 mm focal length to clearly resolve target detail at ranges where many thermal platforms begin to smear edges into ambiguity. The 75 mm germanium objective gathers a wide thermal signal while holding a tight field of view, which is a deliberate trade-off: you gain long-range detection and identification capability, but this is not a close-quarters tool.
The 4x optical magnification is fixed, so the optic is optimized around a specific engagement distance rather than trying to cover every range equally. From there, digital zoom extends in stepped increments up to 8x when you need to confirm a target further out, though digital magnification amplifies the image rather than adding resolving detail. The picture-in-picture mode lets you monitor a digitally zoomed inset while keeping the full field of view visible — useful for positive target identification without losing situational awareness.
The integrated laser rangefinder reaches out to 1,200 yards and feeds directly into an onboard ballistic calculator. Rather than consulting a drop chart, you enter your bullet’s muzzle velocity and ballistic coefficient once, and the system computes the corrected point of aim automatically as range changes. The AMOLED display is round at 2560×2560 resolution, which suits the circular ocular geometry and contributes to a high-contrast image with deep blacks — relevant in thermal imaging because display contrast directly affects how well you distinguish a warm target from a cool background. Recoil-activated video, a quick-detach mount, a magnetic charging port, and a spare battery round out the feature set without requiring separate accessories.
