Description
The Elevation 2.0 is Proof Research’s answer to a recurring problem in precision hunting rifles: getting a barrel that genuinely performs at extended range without making the rifle a burden to carry into the field. The platform targets hunters and long-range shooters who want a rifle that earns its weight rather than simply minimizing it.
The barrel is carbon fiber wrapped over a match-grade steel core, which matters beyond weight savings. The carbon fiber layer stabilizes the steel barrel against thermal fluctuation more effectively than an equivalent steel profile would, helping the point of impact remain consistent as the barrel heats across a shooting session. That construction also stiffens the barrel radially, so the thinner steel profile under the wrap doesn’t pay a stiffness penalty.
The 1-in-8 twist rate is well suited to the longer, higher-BC projectiles that make 7mm PRC a serious wind-bucking cartridge at distance. Shooters running heavy-for-caliber bullets in the 175–180 grain range will find this twist stabilizes them cleanly without over-spinning lighter loads that some hunters prefer for closer-range work.
The action comes from Zermatt Arms’ Origin platform, which is built around a small footprint and consistent bolt engagement — a sensible foundation for a rifle that carries a Sub-MOA guarantee. The Midnight Camo carbon fiber stock keeps the overall system light and weather-resistant, and the muzzle is threaded 5/8×24 for use with a suppressor or muzzle device. No sights are included, reflecting the expectation that this rifle will be paired with a quality optic from the start.
