Description

The Elevation MTR is Proof Research’s answer to a specific problem: building a bolt-action rifle that can perform at distance without the weight penalty traditionally associated with precision chassis guns. It is aimed at hunters and long-range shooters who cover ground on foot and need a rifle that holds up at the bench as well as in the field.

The action is a Zermatt Arms Origin, a design chosen for its tight bolt-to-receiver fit and reliable feeding geometry rather than for novelty. Proof Research pairs it with a carbon fiber-wrapped match grade barrel, which serves two purposes simultaneously — the carbon wrap draws heat away from the steel liner faster than bare steel alone, helping maintain consistent point of impact across a sustained shooting session, while also reducing the barrel’s contribution to overall rifle weight. The 1-in-10 twist rate in this chambering is well matched to the range of heavy, high-BC projectiles that .300 Winchester Magnum shooters typically reach for at longer distances, without being so fast that it creates problems with lighter factory loads.

The stock is built around an MDT chassis fitted with a five-round steel AICS-pattern magazine, which gives the rifle broad compatibility with the aftermarket magazine ecosystem already established around that format. The Midnight Camo finish on the stock is Proof Research’s own pattern rather than a standard dip or wrap. The muzzle is cut to 5/8×24, the thread standard most suppressors and muzzle devices for this bore diameter are built around.
