Description

The Elevation MTR is Proof Research’s answer to a specific problem: building a bolt-action rifle that can pull double duty as a precision competition platform and a field hunting rifle without asking the shooter to compromise on either end. It is chambered in 7mm PRC, a cartridge designed to push heavy, high-BC projectiles at velocities that sustain energy and resist wind deflection at extended range — making it a logical choice for hunters who glass long country and shooters who compete in matches where target distances regularly exceed 600 yards.

The barrel is a carbon-fiber-wrapped, match-grade unit, which matters for two reasons beyond weight. Carbon fiber dampens barrel harmonics differently than a steel tube alone, contributing to the consistency that supports Proof Research’s sub-MOA guarantee. The 1-in-8 twist rate is fast enough to stabilize the longer, heavier 7mm PRC projectiles that extract the most from the cartridge, but it does not restrict the shooter to those loads — lighter bullets in the bore diameter will also stabilize at that rate. The barrel is threaded 5/8×24, the standard pitch for this bore diameter, so suppressor and muzzle device selection is straightforward.

The action is a Zermatt Arms Origin, a platform chosen for its tight receiver-to-barrel interface and its compatibility with a wide range of aftermarket components. The rifle feeds from a 5-round MDT Steel AICS-pattern magazine, which means the shooter has access to the same broad ecosystem of compatible magazines used across the precision rifle community.
