The .300 PRC was designed from the ground up as a long-action magnum cartridge optimized for high-BC, heavy-for-caliber projectiles seated correctly rather than jammed into the lands to fit a standard magazine box. The result is a cartridge that feeds cleanly and leaves the bullet’s geometry intact — a meaningful advantage when you are loading rounds under field conditions.
