Description
The Proof Research Tundra is built for hunters and precision shooters who want a rifle capable of covering long distance in demanding conditions without the weight penalty that comes with a traditional steel-barreled chassis gun. It centers on a Defiance Ruckus action, a short bolt-action receiver machined to tight tolerances and designed to feed reliably under field conditions rather than purely on the bench. That action is paired with a carbon fiber wrapped match-grade barrel, a construction method that layers structural carbon fiber over a steel liner — reducing overall mass while drawing heat away from the bore more efficiently than a full steel profile, which matters when you are firing a second or third shot on game at distance.
The 7mm PRC cartridge occupies a practical middle ground: it drives long, high-BC 7mm projectiles at velocities that extend the useful range of the platform without demanding the barrel life sacrifice or recoil of larger magnums. Proof Research’s 1-in-8 twist rate stabilizes the heavier, longer bullets in the 7mm PRC family — bullets in the 160–175 grain range that deliver the highest ballistic coefficients available in the bore diameter. Shooters selecting ammunition should be aware that faster twist also handles mid-weight bullets without issue, so handloaders have broad flexibility. The muzzle is cut 5/8×24, accepting standard large-caliber suppressors and muzzle devices without an adapter. The stock is Proof Research’s own TFDE (Tan/Dark Earth) carbon fiber Tundra stock, which keeps the system light while providing a rigid, weather-resistant chassis. Proof Research backs the rifle with a sub-half-MOA accuracy guarantee, a meaningful commitment given the barrel and action pairing.
