Description

The Radian Model 1 Builder Kit is a precision upper receiver and handguard combination designed for shooters who want to start a build around components that are engineered and finished as a matched set rather than assembled from mismatched parts. The target buyer is someone who has built ARs before, understands what they want from the platform, and is willing to invest in a foundation that is machined to consistent tolerances rather than cast or forged to budget.

Both the upper receiver and handguard are CNC machined from billet 7075-T6 aluminum. That construction method removes material from a solid block rather than shaping it under pressure, which allows Radian to cut structural reinforcement into areas where standard receivers typically thin out. The handguard attaches to the barrel nut using four steel cross bolts treated with black nitride, a surface hardening process that improves corrosion resistance without adding meaningful thickness. Attachment slots follow the Magpul M-LOK pattern, so the buyer has a broad market of compatible accessories to draw from without adapters.

The upper ships assembled with a dust cover, a lightweight forward assist, a handguard anti-rotation pin, and Radian’s Raptor-SD ambidextrous charging handle. The Raptor-SD is designed around suppressed use, routing gas more aggressively away from the shooter’s face under back-pressure conditions, which matters during the build planning phase if a suppressor is part of the intended configuration. Every exterior edge is chamfered at the factory. The finish is Radian Brown Cerakote applied after machining, coating the upper and handguard together so the color is consistent across both pieces. The lower receiver included is the Radian AX556, which accepts standard AR-pattern components and ships with the Radian Talon safety selector.
