Steel also handles the thermal cycling that comes from sustained shooting sessions better than aluminum alternatives, maintaining clamping force as the ring and tube expand and contract together.
The 30mm bore fits the increasingly common 30mm main tube found on mid- and upper-tier rifle scopes, giving a direct, solid interface rather than relying on inserts or adapters that add potential failure points. The 12mm mount height positions the scope centerline 12mm above the rail, a measurement worth cross-referencing against your specific action and objective bell diameter before ordering — the goal is adequate clearance without pushing eye relief geometry out of a comfortable shooting position.
These rings are designed around Picatinny rail geometry, so they index positively against the cross slots of a standard MIL-STD-1913 rail rather than relying solely on friction the way traditional Weaver rings do.
