Description

The Obsidian Dual Taper Mount gives shooters who already own a Rugged Obsidian9 or Obsidian45 suppressor a way to run either can on a much wider range of hosts than a fixed muzzle thread would allow. The dual taper design creates a friction lock between the mount and suppressor — meaning the can seats against two opposing angled surfaces simultaneously, which distributes clamping force evenly and resists the rotational loosening that single-point muzzle thread connections can develop over extended use.

That mechanism is particularly useful when moving the suppressor between hosts with different gas pressures and cyclic rates. A 300 BLK rifle, a pistol-caliber carbine, and a .357 lever action all create different impulse signatures at the muzzle, and a mount that relies on thread friction alone can migrate under those varying conditions. The taper lock addresses that directly by relying on geometry rather than thread preload to maintain alignment and retention.

An installation tool ships with the mount, which matters in practice — proper seating of a taper-lock system requires consistent torque and positioning, and having a purpose-made tool eliminates the guesswork of improvised methods. The mount is finished in black and is specific to the Obsidian9 and Obsidian45 platforms; it is not a universal adapter.
