Description
Sellier & Bellot’s 9mm Luger 124-grain Jacketed Hollow Point is aimed at shooters who want a purpose-built defensive round rather than a practice load. The 124-grain bullet weight sits in the middle of the common 9mm range, and that matters: heavier projectiles generally move more slowly but carry momentum through barriers more effectively, while lighter ones trade some of that for flatter trajectory and snappier recoil. At 1,201 feet per second from the muzzle, this loading delivers 397 foot-pounds of energy — enough to drive reliable expansion without the overpressure characteristics of a +P load.
The jacketed hollow point design uses a standard two-piece construction: a lead core seated inside a copper jacket with an exposed cavity at the nose. On impact, hydraulic pressure forces the cavity to peel outward, expanding the bullet’s diameter and slowing its penetration — the trade-off that distinguishes defensive JHP ammunition from full metal jacket. The two-piece build is specifically selected for feeding reliability across a wide range of pistol designs, including those with tighter feed ramp geometries that can be finicky with more aggressively profiled hollow points.
Cases are brass and boxer-primed, which means they can be resized and reloaded if you sort and collect them at the range. Primers are non-corrosive, so standard cleaning intervals apply with no special attention required. Each box contains 50 rounds, and the full case runs 1,000 rounds across 20 boxes — useful if you intend to confirm the load in your carry pistol before stocking it in quantity.
