Description

The Shield Arms Premium Magazine Catch is a steel replacement for the factory polymer catch on the Glock 43X and 48, engineered specifically around the Shield Arms S15 steel magazine system. The factory polymer catch was not designed with steel magazines in mind, and swapping to a steel catch is a necessary complement to the S15 if you want reliable, consistent magazine seating and retention.

This is a right-hand-specific design, not ambidextrous. That constraint is deliberate: by building the catch for one dominant hand, Shield Arms was able to remove the hard interior angles that an ambidextrous design requires on the underside of the catch body. Those angles can create friction points during insertion, so their elimination contributes to cleaner, more consistent magazine seating under stress.

The catch face runs approximately 0.03 inches longer than Shield Arms’ standard catch, which translates to a slightly deeper engagement with the magazine. The knurling is also extended by roughly 1/32 inch over the standard version, giving the thumb more surface area to work against when executing a release. The finish is Black Nitride, which bonds into the steel surface rather than sitting on top of it, providing corrosion resistance without adding meaningful dimensional thickness. Machined in the USA and covered by Shield Arms’ lifetime warranty.

Note that this catch is not compatible with Glock’s factory polymer magazines — it is purpose-built for the S15 steel magazine and should be treated as part of that system rather than a standalone upgrade.
