What distinguishes V-Crown from a generic hollow point is the combination of its cannelure design and jacket construction. The toothed cannelure mechanically locks the jacket to the lead core rather than relying solely on a bonding agent, which helps the bullet retain mass through expansion rather than shedding the jacket on contact. The hollow cavity itself is engineered to initiate expansion reliably, even after passing through intermediate barriers that can sometimes plug a conventional hollow point and inhibit opening.

Sig loads these cartridges with a low-flash propellant formulation, which matters in low-light conditions where a bright muzzle signature can momentarily affect your vision or your ability to stay on target. The brass cases are nickel-plated, which resists surface oxidation during storage and tends to feed smoothly through a variety of chamber geometries.
