It runs a closed-bolt, short-stroke gas piston system, which keeps the action cleaner than a direct-impingement design when a can is attached — carbon and blowback gas stay at the muzzle end rather than cycling back into the receiver. The 4.5-inch barrel gets the platform into close-quarters territory while preserving enough dwell time for the piston to function reliably across standard and subsonic 9mm loadings.
