Description
The Sig Sauer 1911-XR is built for the shooter who wants a traditional 1911 platform without giving up the modern capability to run a compact red dot. The slide is machined with an ultra-low-profile direct-mount optic cut, meaning a compatible optic sits lower than it would on a riser-based setup, which keeps the bore axis relationship closer to a traditional sight picture and reduces the adjustment your eye has to make when transitioning from iron to glass.
When no optic is mounted, the XRAY3 Day/Night sights take over. These are tritium-and-photoluminescent units that work in full daylight, low light, and darkness without batteries or activation — a practical default for a pistol that may see carry or home-defense use between range sessions.
The frame is stainless steel and includes a Picatinny rail forward of the trigger guard, so weapon lights and lasers mount without adapters. The beavertail grip safety protects the shooting hand during recoil and encourages proper high grip, which matters on a single-action pistol where a consistent trigger press depends heavily on hand position. The flat-blade trigger is designed for a more repeatable finger placement than a curved shoe, which can shift the effective pull weight depending on where you contact it. An extended ambidextrous manual safety accommodates both hands without a grip shift, and the ambidextrous slide stop follows the same logic.
Front and rear slide serrations give purchase for press-checks and press-and-rack manipulations regardless of which hand is working the slide. The removable metal magwell aids rapid reloads. Two eight-round magazines are included, and a stainless optic plate ships with the pistol for when the rail is not in use.
