The .357 SIG cartridge pushes a relatively flat trajectory and high velocity out of compact pistols, making it a practical choice for those who want rifle-like sectional density from a semi-auto handgun platform.
The 125-grain bullet leaves the muzzle at 1,350 feet per second, measured from a 4-inch test barrel, generating 506 foot-pounds of energy at the muzzle. That velocity figure matters because expansion in a hollow point is largely velocity-dependent — the Gold Dot’s hollow-point cavity is engineered to initiate reliably across the speed range this round actually produces through real carry guns, not just longer test barrels.
What separates this bullet from conventional jacketed hollow points is the Uni-Cor construction process. Rather than mechanically pressing a pre-formed jacket onto a core, Speer bonds the jacket to the lead core from the very start of manufacture, one layer at a time under pressure. The result is that the core and jacket behave as a single structure on impact, resisting the separation that can rob a conventional hollow point of penetration depth after passing through intermediate barriers like clothing or glass. Retained weight stays high even after expansion.
Nickel-plated brass aids feeding in semi-automatic pistols and makes case condition easier to assess in low light. The sealed primer adds a layer of protection against moisture during extended carry. Each box contains 20 rounds.
