When a bullet sheds its jacket, it loses mass, and with mass goes the penetration needed to reach vital tissue. Gold Dot addresses this through Uni-Cor bonding, a process that electrochemically bonds the jacket to the lead core one atomic layer at a time rather than mechanically pressing the two together. The result is a bullet that holds together through intermediate barriers and still expands reliably at the other end.
The hollow-point cavity is engineered to initiate expansion across a wide velocity range, which matters in a cartridge like 9mm Luger where barrel length — and therefore muzzle velocity — varies considerably between a compact carry gun and a full-size service pistol. The pressure-formed lead core contributes to dimensional consistency from round to round, which in turn produces tighter groups and more predictable terminal behavior.
Nickel-plated brass makes case condition easy to inspect and resists corrosion during storage or carry, a practical consideration for ammunition kept chambered or in a magazine for extended periods. Sealed primers guard against moisture infiltration from the same source. This is a 20-round box suited to range qualification, defensive carry rotation, or function testing a new handgun before trusting it for protection. The 124-grain projectile sits in the middle of the common 9mm weight range, balancing recoil and retained velocity at distance.
