SUREFIRE SOCOM MB 7.62MM 5/8X24 AR10

Description

The SureFire SFMB-762-5/8-24 is a muzzle brake built for .308 and 7.62 NATO platforms — AR-10s, DPMS LR-308s, and similar large-frame rifles where the heavier cartridge generates enough recoil impulse that muzzle movement between shots becomes a real problem at speed. Its offset porting is arranged to redirect gas in a way that keeps the muzzle tracking straight back rather than rising, which shortens the time between a fired shot and a stable sight picture for the next one. That matters more on a heavy-recoiling rifle than on a 5.56 build, where the difference between a brake and a flash hider is subtle; on a .308, it is not subtle.

Beyond recoil management, the SFMB is the required mounting point for SureFire’s SOCOM Series Fast-Attach suppressors in 7.62mm. Multiple internal bearing surfaces are machined into the brake to control alignment when a suppressor is mounted, and a labyrinth seal at the rear of the indexing system limits carbon migration into the lock ring mechanism — a detail that keeps the attachment interface functional through sustained use rather than requiring aggressive cleaning to break it loose. Pilot holes on the body serve two purposes: they allow a shooter to fine-tune recoil characteristics by drilling them out to adjust gas bleed, and they provide a location for pin-and-weld work if a permanent installation is needed.

The body is machined from U.S. mill-certified, heat-treated stainless steel bar stock. SureFire’s DLC coating — applied by IONBOND — provides corrosion resistance and makes carbon deposits easier to remove after extended firing. At 5/8″-24 thread pitch, it fits the standard thread spec for .30-caliber large-frame AR barrels.
