Description

The Timney CZ 457 is a drop-in replacement trigger built for rimfire shooters who need more precision than the factory unit allows — whether that means hunting where a heavy pull causes flinch, or competitive shooting where consistency at the break determines the score. It installs without a gunsmith, which means you can return a rifle to hunting trim or dial it back in for a match without sending it out.

The pull weight adjusts from 10 ounces up to 2 pounds, and the factory setting is 1 pound. That 10-ounce floor matters in precision rimfire work: at those weights, the shooter can hold on target through the entire firing sequence without disturbing the muzzle, which is where most rimfire accuracy is lost. Over-travel is adjustable as well, so you can remove the slack that follows the break and shorten the reset for faster follow-up shots. A lighter, shorter trigger does not improve your natural point of aim or your reading of the wind — but it does stop the trigger from undoing both.

Every component in the trigger is machined rather than stamped or metal-injection-molded, and the sear receives an NP-3 coating for lubricity that holds up over the service life of the mechanism without needing regular lubrication. The trigger shoe is heat-treated to 56 Rockwell and finished in black oxide. Timney’s Sear Engagement Adjustment Lock — their SEAL system — keeps the sear geometry stable after adjustment so the pull weight does not walk over time.
