Description
The FAST Micro-S Mount is designed for shooters who run their rifles with helmets, electronic hearing protection, night vision, or gas masks — gear that forces an awkward, chin-down posture with a standard-height optic. By raising the optical centerline to 2.26 inches above the rail, the mount lets the shooter keep their head upright and their spine neutral rather than craning down to find the dot. That posture shift is the entire point of the FAST system, and it has real consequences for how quickly a shooter can acquire a sight picture under load.
This specific version is built around the Aimpoint CompM5s, CompM5b, and Duty RDS footprints, so the fit is deliberate rather than generic. Beyond the optic relationship, the 2.26-inch centerline height also makes these sights geometrically compatible with Unity’s Flip-To-Center magnifier mounts, which require that specific height to work correctly when the magnifier swings in behind the red dot.
The mount ships with a standard rail-grabber clamp. For shooters who want tool-free removal, the base is machined to accept a drop-in American Defense Manufacturing QD Auto-Lock lever as a direct replacement — that lever is sold separately rather than included. The finish on this variant is Unity’s FDE, which they apply via Type III hardcoat anodizing. Unity is direct about the fact that hardcoat chemistry produces color variation batch to batch, so the exact tone can shift between parts even from the same run — worth knowing if you’re color-matching other components on the rifle.
