Description
The Wilson Combat Bullet Proof ambidextrous thumb safety is built for 1911 shooters who need reliable, hand-neutral operation — whether they shoot left-handed, switch hands under pressure, or simply want a safety they can disengage without breaking grip or adjusting their hand position. The ambidextrous tactical lever format gives both sides equal, positive engagement rather than the cramped, token lever that often appears on the right side of lesser ambi designs.
Construction starts with solid stainless steel billet. That means no casting porosity, no weak points introduced by injection molding, and no dimensional drift from stock to stock. Every safety that carries the Bullet Proof name is precision CNC machined, which is why Wilson Combat can promise a wobble-free fit rather than the vague “drop-in” language that covers a wide tolerance band. Minor hand fitting may still be required depending on your pistol’s specific tolerances, and Wilson Combat recommends installation by a qualified gunsmith.
The right-side lever is retained by a unique hammer pin rather than relying on grip panel pressure to hold it in place. That matters because grip-panel retention can loosen as panels are swapped or removed, whereas a dedicated pin keeps the lever secure regardless of what grips you run. The levers themselves are extended and serrated for a more deliberate purchase, which helps when working the safety under stress or with gloved hands. Compatible with the full range of 1911 frame sizes as well as Wilson Combat’s double-stack eXperior and SFT9 platforms.
