Description

The Wilson Combat Bullet Proof Extractor for the Series 80 1911 in .45 ACP is a direct-replacement upgrade aimed at shooters who want a more durable, longer-lasting extractor than the factory part provides. It is machined from S7 shock-resistant tool steel — a grade rated to a tensile strength of 275,000 PSI — which makes it substantially tougher than conventional tool steels and better suited to handling the sustained stress of high-volume shooting.

The hook geometry is optimized to maximize both strength at the tip and surface contact with the case rim. That contact area matters: an extractor that grips more of the rim pulls more consistently and is less prone to slipping under the case head during extraction, which is a common cause of failures to eject. Hook placement tolerances are held to plus or minus .001 inch, keeping that geometry repeatable from part to part. Radiused interior corners reduce stress concentration at the transition points, which is where fatigue cracks typically initiate on less carefully designed parts.

After machining, the extractor goes through heat treatment followed by cryogenic processing. Cryogenic treatment converts residual austenite in the steel to martensite, which improves dimensional stability and wear resistance over the service life of the part. The full-diameter rear shaft is designed to maintain proper extractor tension longer than standard-profile parts, reducing the need for periodic tension adjustments.
