Wilson Combat has been building 1911 magazines for serious working pistols for decades, and the 47-series is the foundation of that reputation. This full-size, single-stack magazine is intended for shooters who run a Government or Commander-length 1911 hard and need a magazine that holds up to that use — not one that gets retired to the range bag after a season.

The tube is drawn from 17-7 PH stainless steel certified to aircraft-grade standards and heat treated after forming, which keeps the walls from deforming under the sustained pressure of being kept fully loaded for extended periods. At .025 inches thick, the tube walls are stout enough to resist the kind of denting and distortion that causes feeding malfunctions without adding so much material that the magazine binds in the well. Wilson Combat machines their dimensional tolerances tightly enough that drop-free function is consistent across the pistols the magazine is designed to fit, provided the chamber and ammunition are within normal specifications.

The follower is made from fiber-infused nylon, which is self-lubricating by nature — it resists binding against the tube walls without requiring any additional lubrication to function. The spring is wound from heavy-duty wire chosen for sustained tension, which matters both for reliable feeding under rapid fire and for ensuring the slide stop engages cleanly on the last round. The removable base pad is a wrap-around design that adds a small amount of length to the grip, and it can be pulled off for cleaning or spring replacement without tools.
