The 1-in-8 twist rate in 6.5 Creedmoor is optimized for the heavier, high-BC projectiles — 130 to 147 grains — that make the cartridge worth hunting with in the first place. Stabilizing those longer bullets correctly is what delivers the flat trajectories and retained energy that give 6.5 Creedmoor its practical advantage at distance.
