Description

The Wilson Combat Drop-In Beavertail Grip Safety is built for shooters who want the ergonomic and safety benefits of a high-ride beavertail on a standard 1911 without committing to frame modification. The drop-in design means no cutting, no welding, and no permanent changes to the frame — the pistol remains reversible to its original configuration if needed.

The deeply curved beavertail geometry allows the gun to sit lower and deeper in the web of the hand. That lower grip position shortens the distance between the bore axis and the shooter’s palm, which translates directly into more natural muzzle return and less perceived torque during rapid fire. The wide tail also eliminates hammer bite, a real problem for shooters with larger hands using standard grip safeties under recoil.

A raised pad at the base of the safety ensures positive disengagement even when running a high-thumb hold — a technique common among competitive and defensive shooters that can inadvertently ride a standard grip safety without fully depressing it. The raised pad corrects that without requiring the shooter to adjust grip mechanics.

This Commander-length variant is designed for use with Commander-style or bobbed hammers only — pairing it with a full-length Government hammer will cause function issues. It also fits the Officers ACP frame in addition to Commander-length builds. Minor fitting of the trigger engagement area may be required depending on the specific pistol. Constructed from steel with a blued finish, it is made to the same dimensional standards as the frames it drops into.
