Description

The MR7 is YHM’s answer to shooters who want a genuinely lightweight free-float handguard without giving up accessory real estate. It suits anyone building or upgrading a mid-length AR-15 who needs a clean, uncluttered platform that can still take lights, grips, or a bipod wherever the job demands.

The free-floating design decouples the handguard from the barrel entirely, so your support hand and any sling tension are not transferred to the bore — a meaningful advantage for consistent accuracy under field conditions. Where many handguards concentrate M-LOK slots at the cardinal positions, the MR7 carries attachment points along the full length at every 45-degree interval, which gives you more placement options for angled grips or accessories without forcing a compromise on position.

The extended Picatinny top rail is “T” marked, meaning index numbers are stamped directly into the rail so optic mounts can be returned to a known position after removal. That matters when a shooter runs the same optic across more than one upper or needs to confirm zero after disassembly.

Construction is 6061-T6 aluminum throughout, finished in Hard-Coat Anodize to mil-spec. Hard-coat anodizing produces a surface that resists wear and corrosion at the contact points where a handguard takes the most abuse — around the barrel nut and wherever accessories are mounted. Front and rear positions accept YHM’s Q.D. swivel sling mounts, so sling attachment is handled without additional hardware.

Everything needed for installation — barrel nut, jam nut, and anti-rotation screws — ships with the handguard. YHM recommends their dedicated handguard wrench (YHM-9621) to protect the receiver finish during fitment. Made in the USA.
