The Havak Pro Hunter 3 is built for hunters who are serious about backcountry weight budgets but unwilling to give up the mechanical reliability a hard hunt demands. It is a practical mountain rifle, not a range toy, and the decisions Seekins made in its design reflect that context throughout.

The 20-inch barrel is the central trade-off that defines the rifle’s character. Shortening a barrel below the cartridge’s optimal burn length costs some velocity, but in 6.5 PRC the loss is modest and the handling gain in steep terrain is significant. The 1-in-8-inch twist rate keeps the rifle compatible with the full range of high-BC, heavy-for-caliber 6.5mm projectiles that make this cartridge worth hunting with at distance — lighter, shorter bullets will also stabilize without issue. The barrel is fluted to reduce mass without reducing rigidity, and the muzzle is threaded to accept a suppressor or muzzle brake depending on the application.

The action uses a three-lug bolt with a 60-degree throw, which shortens the cycling arc and allows a lower scope mount without sacrificing bolt clearance. Seekins designed the bolt for toolless disassembly, so field cleaning or swapping components in camp does not require a gunsmith kit. The integrated 20 MOA Picatinny rail is machined directly into the steel receiver, providing a forward cant that preserves scope adjustment range for long-range shooting without adding a separate angled base. A full-length M-LOK rail along the forend handles accessory mounting, and the adjustable cheek piece lets the shooter fit the comb height precisely to their chosen optic. The Mountain Shadow stock finish is Seekins’ own pattern, designed to blend in open alpine environments.
