Description
The ZF-5K is built for shooters who want a compact, maneuverable 9mm pistol without sacrificing the mechanical integrity of the roller-delayed blowback system that made the MP5 platform famous. Where a standard-length host trades some compactness for a longer sight radius, the 4.6-inch barrel brings the overall envelope down to where close-quarters handling becomes noticeably easier—at the cost of a sight radius reduced to 10.3 inches compared to longer ZF-5 variants. That is a real trade-off worth understanding before you buy.
Roller-delayed blowback is a slower, more controlled unlocking sequence than straight blowback. The roller system holds the bolt closed fractionally longer, which spreads the impulse across a slightly longer dwell time and generally produces a flatter, more consistent recoil impulse than a direct blowback design in the same caliber. The barrel itself is cold hammer forged from 4150 CMV steel with an FNC coating, a corrosion-resistant finish that also reduces surface friction. Rifling is cut in six grooves with a right-hand 1:10-inch twist, which stabilizes standard 115- to 147-grain 9x19mm projectiles across the typical handgun-caliber weight range without favoring one extreme.
The rear sight is a four-aperture rotary drum, giving you a choice of sight picture for different lighting or distance conditions rather than a single fixed notch. The front is a fixed hooded post. Both are included. The pistol ships with one 30-round steel magazine, a soft carry case, and a user manual. It is manufactured in the United States and backed by a limited lifetime warranty from Zenith Firearms.
