Description

The Shield Arms +5/+4 Magazine Extension is built for Glock 17 and Glock 22 owners who want to add meaningful round count without carrying a second magazine. Fitting the Glock 17, it adds five rounds to a standard-capacity magazine; on the Glock 22, the geometry of the .40 S&W cartridge means the same extension yields four additional rounds. Either way, the result is a noticeably deeper grip and a substantial capacity gain over the factory baseplate it replaces.

Shield Arms machines the body from 6061 aluminum and finishes it in a Type 2 anodized Red — the same process used on aerospace and mil-spec components, where the anodize layer becomes part of the surface rather than sitting on top of it. That matters here because a baseplate takes repeated impacts from drops and range use. The included spring runs at a ten-percent higher rate than a standard OEM spring, which compensates for the increased column of rounds and helps ensure reliable feeding under the added load.

The floor plate uses Shield Arms’ easy-access design, meaning you can strip the spring and follower for cleaning or inspection without first pulling the extension off the magazine body — a practical advantage when you need to clear debris from the feed end quickly. Index cuts machined into the sides of the extension give your support hand a positive purchase when stripping the magazine from the gun under stress. This extension is designed for factory full-capacity magazines only and will not work with ten-round restricted variants.
