Zenith Firearms built this magazine for shooters running the ZF-5 platform or any of the various 9mm roller-delayed blowback firearms that share the MP5 pattern — including the SP5, HK94, MP5K, SP5K, SP89, and MP5SD. It is an all-steel magazine, which matters because steel holds its shape under the stress of repeated loading and the occasional hard drop in a way that polymer-bodied alternatives simply do not replicate on a one-to-one basis.

The electro-plated black finish is Zenith’s chosen method for corrosion resistance rather than a spray-on coating or parkerizing. Electro-plating bonds the protective layer at a molecular level, so the coverage is consistent across the entire body, including the interior surfaces that see the most abrasion from rounds and follower travel. The stainless steel follower is a deliberate pairing with that interior finish — stainless resists galling against the steel body better than a follower material that would eventually develop burrs and cause drag.

Reinforced feed lips address one of the more common failure points in high-cycle magazines. Feed lip geometry controls the angle and timing at which a round exits the magazine and enters the chamber; when those lips spread under repeated use, feeding reliability degrades. Reinforcing them from the outset extends the useful service life before that spread becomes a problem. The high-tensile compression spring maintains consistent upward pressure on the follower as the round count drops, which prevents the feeding issues that can appear when a softer spring loses tension midway through a magazine. Round count indicator holes on the rear of the body give a quick visual reference without requiring the shooter to dump the magazine to check remaining capacity.
