KAK Industry’s A5 Style Buffer Tube addresses this by extending the receiver extension to accommodate a rifle-length buffer spring, which spreads the recoil impulse over a longer stroke and softens the felt snap at the shooter’s shoulder without adding bulk to the overall package.

Unlike a standard carbine tube, the A5 tube requires A5-specific buffers — the geometry is different enough that standard carbine buffers are not compatible in an AR-15 build. Rifle-length buffer springs drop straight in, and the tube works with standard mil-spec castle nuts and end plates, so there’s no need to source proprietary hardware for the rest of the installation. For AR-10 builds, standard AR-15 buffers are compatible, making this a practical option across platforms.

The tube is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum and finished in black military hard coat anodize, which holds up to handling and weather without adding meaningful weight — the tube itself comes in at 4 oz.
