Description
The B-14 HMR in .450 Bushmaster is aimed at hunters and precision shooters who want a bolt-action platform capable of handling a hard-hitting straight-walled cartridge without sacrificing the kind of repeatable accuracy that chassis-based designs are known for. It suits deer hunters working in states that restrict rifle calibers to straight-walled cartridges, as well as shooters who want a compact bolt gun that can reach past the practical range of iron-sighted lever guns.
The stock integrates an aluminum mini-chassis rather than relying on pillar bedding or a conventional inlet. That chassis gives the barreled action consistent points of contact every time the rifle is assembled, which matters for groups shot over multiple range sessions. The barrel sits fully free-floated in that stock, so pressure from a sling or a bag under the forend does not walk point of impact. The 4140 CrMo steel barrel is finished in Graphite Black Cerakote for corrosion resistance in field conditions.
The 1:24-inch twist rate is fast enough to stabilize the heavy, wide-diameter .450 Bushmaster projectiles reliably, and it is well-matched to the 250- to 300-grain bullets that dominate factory ammunition for this caliber. The muzzle is threaded 5/8″-24 tpi, which is the standard pattern for .45-caliber accessories. A thread protector ships with the rifle. The B-14 action uses a two-lug bolt with a sliding plate extractor and a coned bolt nose and breech, both of which reduce the chance of a feeding or extraction problem when cycling under pressure. The receiver is drilled and tapped to accept Remington 700-pattern rings and bases, giving scope selection broad flexibility. The stock includes an adjustable cheekpiece and length-of-pull spacers, plus QD flush cups for sling attachment. One five-round AICS detachable magazine is included.
